It’s definitely been one roller coaster of a ride this week.  I gained a pound, lost two pounds then I gained a pound.  All in all, I lost 1.4 pounds this week.  I’ve got 15.4 pounds to go before I can get my big butt on my bicycle.

I went every day this week to the gym.  I spend on average 30 minutes each on the treadmill and the cycle.  I walk away with my clothes soaked in sweat and my legs heavy as lead.  Twice this week I’ve worked with the trainer learning how to operate the machines correctly.  Next week I’ll be adding at least some of the machines to my daily routine.

I had to change my routine somewhat to accommodate my wife.  This was due to my son having a car accident late Thursday afternoon.  It messed his car up somewhat and it had to be towed to a garage.  So, being the generous parents we are, we’ve given my wife’s car to him to drive during the next three weeks while his car is getting repaired.  This requires me to get up in the morning and take my wife to work in the mornings and making sure I’m there in the afternoon to pick her up.  This also requires me to pick her up during the day to take her to her doctor’s appointments which I had to do today.  The things we do for our kids.

Back to my weight loss.  I’m a little disappointed that I haven’t lost more weight than I have.  I’ve read that when you start exercising like I have, you tear or damage the muscles which become inflamed.  When this happens the body retains fluid around the inflammation which aids in the healing process.  This also adds weight to your body.  This is all new to me so I can’t tell you if it’s true or not.  I did read this on the internet so it’s got to be true, right? lol.

I don’t mind yard work.  In fact, I really enjoy it especially when you work several hours and after you’re done you can actually see that you’ve accomplished something.  I had plans on doing a ride today but because I was on my feet for several hours my feet swelled so much that I couldn’t get my cycle shoes on. So, I opted to do some yard work.

It’s been a while since I’ve done the edging.  My wife likes to cut the grass so I let her but as you can see the grass has started growing over the sidewalk.  I’ve been so busy as of late and I just haven’t had the time to get to it.  We won’t discuss the condition of my backyard.  I’m waiting for the cooler weather to let everything go dormant so that I can see where I’m stepping.

After the trimming was done I even spent some time cleaning a propane gas grill.  The scouts had let this thing get so nasty that I had to use Easy Off and then a pressure washer to get the thing cleaned. I even spent the time testing it out just to make sure the grill would light up.  It did.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Cataract Surgery, daughters, Eye Doctor, Kids, Photography, Stress, Sweetwater Creek State Park, Twins, Wife

It’s been a long day today.  I had to get up early this morning to 1) make sure my girls got off to work and 2) get my wife to the eye hospital to have Cataract surgery done. Getting my girls off was one thing but getting my wife to her appointment was another.  The smallest thing makes her nervous, so much so that it makes her sick to her stomach.  It’s like dealing with a five year old.  She also has a very low tolerance for pain.  A paper cut will cause her to scream for pain meds.

It was an early night for the girls.  They got home, ate the supper I prepared because the wife couldn’t do it and took their showers and went to bed.  They are currently working at a local water park and they have to stand up all day helping people on the water slides.  I’m hoping it’s making them a little more responsible.  It’s good for them. It was also an early night for the wife.  It was a very stressful day for her.

After the supper dishes were cleaned up and put away I was planning on going on a bike ride but mother nature had other plans. A couple of thunderstorms showed up and I don’t ride when it’s lightning.  Tomorrow means that I’ll be back at work catching up on what wasn’t done today while I wasn’t there.  Just one day closer to retirement is what I keep reminding myself.  Have I said lately how much I hate my job?

Hoping to get a ride in tomorrow to relieve some of this stress that’s building up inside me.  Twenty five miles should give me a good start.
