365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Baritone, Birthday, College, Lunch, Million Dollar Band, Son

_1TH8567

I had a very good day today.  I was able to spend part of this morning with my son.  He plays the baritone in college and they were rehearsing their show.  Afterwards we had lunch and got to spend some time together.  Once I arrived home, the rest of the family and I went out to a local steak house and ate.  I’m so stuffed right now I can hardly move.  Didn’t get a bike ride in today but maybe tomorrow.  We shall see.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Apartment, College, Cycling, Hot Hundred, Monday, Moving, Photography, Studio

I really loathe Mondays especially since I had a busy weekend.  I did some things that I really enjoyed doing such as the bike ride but not being able to spend any time with my kids because their at work, well I have a problem with that.  I guess I’ll have to get used to it since they are old enough to work.

I got my son moved from one apartment to another today.  He’s moved into a one bedroom studio. He has a separate bathroom, a separate kitchen but the rest is open.  It looks really weird to see this sort of set up but I guess once you think about it what more do you need?  It’s a short term lease so he’ll be out in December and back home with us until he actually finds a job and moves out.

I’ve look through over a thousand pictures people have posted and this is the only picture that I’ve seen with me in it.  I’m the one on the far left with the bright yellow shirt.  It looks like I’m about to turn the wrong way.  I promise you I didn’t because I got the t shirt to prove it.

Where did this weekend go?  In fact, where did April go?  I can’t believe that it’s May already.  School will soon be out for the summer and all three of my kids will either be working or going back to school.  It’s going to be a lonely summer.  My girls will be seniors next year in high school and my son will be graduating in December from college.  Hopefully he will have a job when he gets out of school.  I just hope I have enough vacation time built up before my girls have to go back to school in August to have some sort of vacation I can spend with them.  These doctor appointments are killing my time.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Aggravated, Alabama, Bad Mood, College, Photo, Photography, Robbers, Thieves

http://tchphotography.smugmug.com/HDR/i-TzJktsm/A

I had a good week with my son home from college.  However, it’s when he left and returned back to his apartment and found that that someone had broken in. that’s what’s disappointing.  He was home the entire week so there’s no telling when the thieves broke in.  They stole his IPod, his camera, notebook and his tablet.  He has no renters insurance and will more than likely never see his stuff again.  They did a number on the door as well.  The apartment complex came and replaced the door and repaired all the other damage but what he and I are feeling can not be repaired as easily.  He was told today that the apartments will be hiring a security agency to patrol the area but I think it’s too little too late.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Cats, College, Daylight Savings Time, Feline, Photo, Photography, Queen Bee, Rain, Sick, Sophie, Weather, Weekend, Work

005

It’s been a rainy, dreary day here in the deep south.  Expecting rain the rest of the week.  We may have a decent weekend but that could change.  Oh well, can’t have everything.  At least it’s not freezing rain or snowing.

First day back to work since the time change.  I made it ok with no problems.  I’m actually looking forward to getting the rest of the week behind me and get to the weekend.  I’ve got an opportunity to teach at a college on Saturday afternoon and I’ve got a meeting to attend to on Sunday.  Not much of down time but at least I’ll get out of the house for a while both days.

Pictured above is queen bee, Sophie.  She thinks the runs this house.  She’s spoiled rotten and I must admit I’ve made her that way.  She follows me to the bathroom every morning just so that I can turn the water on in the sink so she can get a drink of water.  She does this too in the evenings as I’m getting ready for bed.  She doesn’t do this to anyone else but me.  She’s my sweet little girl.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Blazer, Campus Life, College, daughters, Photo, Photography, Twins, UAB

_1TH1490

This morning I was honored to take my twin daughters to college day at UAB, University of Alabama Birmingham. We toured the campus, on foot, and went into places I’ve never been before.  I’ve lived here all my my life and I thought I knew the place.  I guess I was wrong.  It’s real nice and I learned a lot.  This also gave my daughters a chance to check out the campus, the dining area as well as some of the dorms.  I’m not sure what my daughters really thought of the place.  I think they have their thoughts of going someplace where they can experience their freedom and not have to commute from home on a daily bases.  Overall, it’s a nice campus with plenty of activities for the kids to do to unwind after a hard day of studying.

After we all got home we all crashed.  After a late night last night we all deserved a nap.

365 Photo Challenge, Alabama, College, Dana Micael, Model, Photo Shoot, Photography, Saturday, Tuscaloosa

http://tchphotography.smugmug.com/Photo-Shoots/Dana-Micael/i-Q262X6j/A

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday.  I Had a photo shoot cancel on me so I’m spending the day going over past photo’s and trying to tweak them for publication.  This is Dana Micael and she’s from Tuscaloosa a college town about forty-five minutes from here. I met here a couple of years ago and was fortunate enough to work with her a couple of hours.

The weather here has finally cleared and the son is shining but wind the temps are a little chilly.  I’m planning on doing some timelapse photography of the sunset if the clouds permit.

Get out and enjoy this weekend if you can.

Alabama, Band, CML, College, Diabeties, Million Dollar Band, Old Age, Parents

Life has been busy and full of activities.  Work still sucks but I only have 3 yrs 11 months and 15 days left before I can retire at 55.  But who’s counting?

My health hasn’t changed much.  My eyesight has not improved much and I’m still taking ejections every month.  My CML is still not under control yet but I’m hopping that by my next doctor’s visit that will change.  When I was diagnosed my levels were at 138%.  At my last visit two months ago it had dropped to .73%.  0% is where it needs to be.  My next visit will be this Tuesday so I’m hopping for the best.

I turned 51 one month ago tomorrow.  For my birthday my son gave me two sets of tickets to a couple of Alabama games.  What is so special about this is that my son plays for the Million Dollar Band.  He is a senior this year and we have not been to a game with ticket prices being as high as they are we just couldn’t afford for the rest of the family to go.

My wife and one of my daughters went to a wedding while my parents, my other daughter and I went to the game.  Needless to say getting to our seats was an adventure within itself. Both my parents are in their early to mid 70’s.  The tickets we had were in the highest portion of the stadium that you could be.  I was really worried for my mom who has trouble walking long distances.  Once we finally made it to our seats we all had a great time watching the game as well as watching our son march on the field.  Couldn’t see him but I know he was down there somewhere.

As l’m going through the pictures of yesterday, I am reminded that life moves quickly.  It seems just like yesterday that my son and I was playing catch in our back yard.  Now I’m seeing him in full uniform marching in a college band.  Where does the time go.  I took a picture of my parents with my son and daughter.  As I’m sitting here in front of the computer editing the picture I realize that life does have a purpose.  My parents had a purpose raising me and now it’s my turn to raise my kids.  I think my parents did an outstanding job with me and I’m hopping I’m doing the same with my kids.  So far no arrest records have been made on either of my kids so apparently I’m doing a fair job.
