Aerial, Backyard, Easter, Good Friday, Weekend, Work Week, Yardwork

Hello everyone!!  I hope everyone had a great weekend and is looking forward to going back to work.  Me?  I had a great weekend but I am not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.  I guess most of are not.

My wife is off all week next week for spring break.  I’d like to take off with her but I’m trying to save my time just in case I have to go back to the hospital.  If I have time I’ll take two weeks either in June or July to go on vacation with my family.  I could save my time and just get paid for it when I retire but my kids would be able to get out of school in August when I do retire.

This weekend was spent in my backyard doing some pruning.  I’ve let my backyard go for several years because simply I haven’t felt like doing any type of yard work.  So now I’m paying for it.  Shrubs have grown into trees so I’m back there with an electric chainsaw cutting everything down and dragging it to the street.  The chainsaw is only good for about two hours and as luck would have it, that’s about how long I can last without taking some sort of a break.  I got a lot done this weekend but I’ve still got a lot more to do.  Here’s an aerial view of my backyard.  Too bad I don’t have a before picture so you can see what I’ve done.

There’s an area just to the right and behind the white truck that I’ve cleaned out and to the right and behind the large bush directly behind the deck. I’ve cut down the large bush after this picture was taken.  The brush people will not be happy with me when they come and pick up the pile.  It’s enormous.

I hope everyone has a great week ahead.  I’m only working four days.  I’m off Good Friday.  All my kids are coming home so I’m planning on doing something with them on Saturday.  Sunday we’re spending it with my wife’s parents.  Lovely. (Insert sarcasm here)

My meds never came this weekend.  I guess a call to my oncologist will be in order for tomorrow.

🙂

No matter how poorly I’ve felt the last few days I made myself go to the butcher shop and purchase some nice steaks and grill them for supper tonight.  I wouldn’t have done it for no other reason than for my girls last weekend before leaving for college later on this week.  I’m really going to miss them.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Weekend

And after a long week I’m really glad it’s here.  As expected, today was a long day but I got everything done.  Everything actually went according to plan for once.

Tomorrow’s plan is to spend as much time with the family as possible.  I’m not sure how I’m going to accomplish this as of yet but that’s my plan so far.  I still have to purchase a few gifts for the wife but I have plenty of time left to do that.  Relax, I won’t wait until the last minute.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Backyard, Mother Nature, Saturday, Weekend, Yardwork

It seems that it’s all I look forward to these days is for the weekend to get here.  For the past several weeks I’ve been having to get up early for some reason or other on both Saturday and Sundays so my getting to sleep in has not come to pass.

I’ve got a lot planned for this weekend as far as yard work.  I’ve got to reclaim my back yard.  Mother Nature has taken over more than half my back yard so I’ve got to see if I can take some of it back.  It’s going to be a lot of hard work and more than a couple of weekends to accomplish but I’ve got nothing better to do at the moment.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Blogging, Botanical Gardens, Flowers, Roses, Television, Weekend

First of all as of today I’ve been “Blogging” for two years.  Never thought that would happen.  Secondly, I’ve been too negative lately in my posts and I apologise for that.  It’s for that reason I won’t be posting things about work for a while.  I will simply have to find another outlet for my frustrations.

This past weekend I had about two hours that I was able to spend with my wife.  Normally while at the house, she has her papers that she has to grade while I’m either on the computer doing emails or watching television.  Either way we’re not doing anything together.  I’ve found that we have nothing in common when it comes to watching television.  In order for us to spend any time together we’re simply going to have to get out of the house. That way it’s just her and I and we’re “forced” to spend time together.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Cookout, Dutch Oven, Saturday, Sunday School, Weekend

I’m actually looking forward to this weekend.  I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow so I took the day off.  I will have a three day weekend.  Saturday I will be in my element.  For the past four years I have cooked for a Sunday School class. Last year we had over 40 people in attendance and a ton of food.  I will be getting there around 9am to set up and start getting everything prepped.  The thing is all I have to do is show up and bring my Dutch Oven’s, they purchase the food and charcoal.  Sunday will be a day of cleaning my pots and resting the rest of the day.  Pictures of the cookout will be forthcoming.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Cravings, diet, Sweets, Weekend, Weightloss

Well, we’ve finally made it to Friday again.  The next two days will fly by as usual and then back to work we’ll go.  Might as well make the best of things while we can.

No sweets for 5 days and only one soda a day since Monday.  So far this week I’ve lost five pounds.  This weekend will be the big challenge.  At work I have a set schedule of when I go to lunch at break.  At home during the weekends I loose that ability to stay on a schedule and I tend to go back to my old habits.  I’m really going to try and not to this time around.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

365 Day Photo Challenge, Band, Birthday, Cats, Cycling, Rehearse, Tuscaloosa, Weekend

2013-05-03 06.45.30

Due to forgetfulness on my part, there are several errands that will have to be done in the morning because I forgot to do them tonight.  This will only add to the many things that I’ve got planned for this weekend.

Tomorrow is my birthday and I had hoped to have a nice relaxing day at the house with maybe a bike ride to break the monotony.  It turns out I’m going to ride to Tuscaloosa to see my son rehearse with the marching band and give him his new phone.  So, with that being stated my day will start early in the morning.

I hope everyone has a great and enjoyable weekend.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Chicago, Grilling, Kids, Reflections, Relaxing Weekend, Ribs, Shopping, Smoking Ribs, The Bean, Weekend

I had a very relaxing day here at the house today.  I got up and got the smoker ready and spent the majority of the day smoking a couple slabs of ribs.  All three of the kids were at work and the wife went on a shopping spree for the girls to purchase them back to school clothes.  In between the times I had to tend to the smoker I spent some time cleaning up some files on my laptop and removing unused programs to make room for more pictures.  I even got to watch some pre recorded Perry Mason shows to help pass the time.

Tomorrow will be spent much the same way except I have plans on doing some riding tomorrow being that I won’t have to be tending to a smoker.  The kids will be at work again and the wife will be doing some grocery shopping.  Nothing exciting but hopefully another relaxing day before the work week begins on Monday.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Beach, Family Time, Ocean, Photography, Photoshoot, Weekend

Normally at this time I’d be trying to prepare myself for tomorrow, Monday.  Tonight I’m rejoicing the fact that I will not be going to work tomorrow.  Instead, I’ll be getting ready for the trip planned for Tuesday.  Tomorrow, I’ll have a lot going on including a small photo shoot.  Once the shoot is over with I’ll have some stuff to do but because I did most of it today it won’t be so bad.

Today, I cleaned out the back of my truck.  I’m not sure how the back gets so cluttered with junk.  Anyway, I got the back cleaned and hosed out.  I vacuumed the inside of the cab and gave her a good washing.  I then backed the truck up to my trailer and hooked up to it to pull it out to be able to work on.  I removed both tires and loaded them into the back of the truck so that I can get some new/used tires tomorrow after the shoot.  I looked like I had took a dip in a pool when I got done with all that today.
