Friday needs to get here quick because I can’t handle another day like I’ve had the past two.  Today, while on my way home from work, I stopped to get gas.  When I got ready to leave the gas station I put the truck in drive and nothing happend.  It seems that the gear shift cable broke.  I had to have my truck towed to a shop near my house.  It’s not a very expensive fix, about $300.00, but it could be worse I guess.

Pleasant Grove City Park Pleasant Grove, Alabama

I had a good week with my son home from college.  However, it’s when he left and returned back to his apartment and found that that someone had broken in. that’s what’s disappointing.  He was home the entire week so there’s no telling when the thieves broke in.  They stole his IPod, his camera, notebook and his tablet.  He has no renters insurance and will more than likely never see his stuff again.  They did a number on the door as well.  The apartment complex came and replaced the door and repaired all the other damage but what he and I are feeling can not be repaired as easily.  He was told today that the apartments will be hiring a security agency to patrol the area but I think it’s too little too late.

You ever have one of those days where nothing seemed like nothing went right and that you should have stayed in bed? Today was one of those days for me.  It started late last night when I got the email saying that my shoot was postponed.  I was not happy and I went to bed mad and I couldn’t sleep.  It was not until 4 am until I got my head cleared enough to where I could go to sleep.  What burnt me up so bad was that we have talked for several weeks trying to settle on a date and then when we do she up’s and cancels on me.  Anyway, if she want’s to get together again, she’s going to have to make the first step. Not me.

Today, once I finally got out of bed, I spent the day doing honey do’s.  I had to go to the paint store and get paint then spent the remainder of the afternoon painting our garage doors.  It needed done and I’m glad I did it because we’re supposed to get several inches of rain tomorrow.

Picture was taken several years ago at Tannehill Historical Park.  Civil War reenactment.  It was fun and it was loud especially when those cannons went off.  People dressed in period clothing, camping in period tents and cooking in period cookware.  It’s amazing how these people lived in those days.  We’ve come a long way.

A little disappointed tonight as I have just found out the young lady I was to photography tomorrow at Railroad park has to work and will not be able to make it.  The only days she has available for a shoot are the days I’m either booked or have to work.  This is a common problem with trying to work out a photo shoot.  I wished I made enough money at it so I could quit my full time job and be a photographer full time.  I think that we all know that won’t happen at least until I can retire in three years.

Life goes on.

Well, today was almost a bust.  I did not get to ride my bicycle today which I am really upset about.  I have a 46 mile bike ride coming up in April and I have got to train for.  Today was a beautiful day with highs in the upper 60’s which was higher than forecasted.  The reason for the bust is that my wife had a doctor’s appointment and I had to stay at home near the phone waiting on the garage door repair man to come by and give us an estimate.  It was really late when he came by and only stayed a few minutes.  After he left I ran got my camera and my tripod and off I went.

As you can see by the photo I was able to capture some amazing shots of our cities court house.  I also got to spend some time at our cities park which is across the street from city hall. I had a time taking the pictures of city hall because every time I snapped the picture a car would drive by and ruin the exposure.  I didn’t stay long because the temps started to drop again and I didn’t bring my jacket.

Feeling Discouraged

Today was horrible.  It started at 6:30 this morning when my phone rang.  It was my coordinator calling me to tell me that there was a problem at one of our buildings.  One of my computer room units had gone into alarm.  Every four months I have to go on call for the entire month.  Some months I don’t get called while others, well let’s just say that I don’t get much sleep.  This has been one of those months.

It wouldn’t be so bad if my co workers would do what they’re supposed to do and order replacement parts when they use a part  It seems that it always shows up when I’m on call and I have to replace a part.  I am tired of spending time searching for parts that are supposed to be there but are not because someone didn’t order a replacement part.  It’s not so bad during the week because all you have to do is go to the supply house and get what you need,  What pisses me off is when I’m called out on weekends or in the middle of the night and don’t have the part.  I’m screwed.

I get to work at 7:30 am, find the unit that’s in alarm.  I reset the unit and check out the unit.  Everything checks out fine.  I work on HVAC equipment and it was 36 degrees outside this morning.  I won’t bore everyone even further with all the mechanical details but everything checked out ok.  Got into my truck to head home and got called again by my coordinator.  This time I have some issues in another building.  There are four buildings that we have and we have to drive to them because they’re to far to walk.  I drive to that building, check everything out, reset some equipment and all is good.  We always have issues with our equipment needing to be reset during cold snaps and this is our first one.

I log three hours this morning and I am home, with clothes changed and about to watch some TV when my phone rings again.  I have more equipment in alarm and I change clothes again back into my work clothes.  It’s 10:30 am by this time. I arrive at work at 11:15 AM, this time it’s software issues and My coordinator is there to take care of that problem.  In the mean time another alarm goes off at yet another building so off I go.  This is where I start to get upset.

I have a bad fan motor.  No problem, I’ll grab the replacement from downstairs and I’ll change it.  Wrong, because we don’t have a replacement.  I look for over thirty minutes with no luck.  I call our supply house and they have a replacement but guess what, they’re closed.  It’s after 12 noon and they close at noon on Saturdays.  They agree to open back up but they’re going to charge me another $50 for opening the store back up.  It’s ok, it’s not my money.

Normally, I can change a fan motor in thirty minutes.  This one took me and my coordinator three hours to change.  Different motor with different mounting brackets.  Basically a pain in the butt.

We’re putting our tools up and another call comes in.  A furnace in our child care center is not working.  We found a couple of bad parts plus another fan motor bad.  You guessed it, no parts and by this time all the supply houses are closed and my coordinator doesn’t want to spend the extra $50.  I’ve got to be at work early on Monday to get to the supply house and get these parts before these kids come in and complain that it’s cold.

I finally get home at 6:30 pm.  A long day for me which, if I had all the parts, the correct parts, I would have been home long before then.
