I will be getting up at 5:15 in the morning to get ready to drive to Marion, Alabama for the Old Howard 100 Bike Ride.  I have signed up for the 46 mile loop.  One of these days I’ll do the 103 mile loop but not tomorrow.  I’m not sure I’m fully prepared for this ride but I know that I’m more prepared than I was last year at this time.  The weather does look better than it did last night at this time.  They’re still predicting rain but it may hold off until after the ride.  My rain jacket is in my backpack ready to go just in case.

The above picture was taken while I was inside a large water pit.  The picture is of the inlet valve of a water pump.  I thought the water droplets made for an interesting picture.

I did not do any type of workout this evening.  I went to a club meeting after I ate supper and didn’t get back until nearly 9 pm.  I still had a few things to get together for tomorrow’s ride so I decided to take a rest day today.

Wish me luck tomorrow.  I’m just going to take my time and enjoy myself.

Another night on the treadmill because it got kind of messy today.  It rained all day and the radar shows that more is on its’ way. I was hoping that the rain would let up by Saturday but as of right now it doesn’t look like it’s going to.  One report is that the rain will return on Saturday afternoon around 1pm.  If that’s the case I might be able to get my ride in before it hits. I’ve only ridden in the rain twice and both times it ended badly.

I’m really debating on whether or not to go on this ride Saturday.  I went yesterday and bought a rain jacket just in case I decide to go.  One thing I’ve got to consider is that it’s an over an hour just to get to the start of the ride.  If I’m going to go that distance I might as well at least attempt to ride and just take my time doing it.

Momma goose is still doing her duty.  There had been reports that she wasn’t there and something had got her.  One of the cleaning ladies was very upset because she went up to see her and she was gone.  She assumed the worse.  I walked up to her and took this picture with my cell phone.  She was not happy that I got close to her. We raised geese when I was a kid so I knew what to expect.  She hissed and hissed at me.  I tried to calm her down but she wanted no part of me being that close to her.

It’s funny how weight fluxuates.  I’ll gain one pound one week and lose two the next or gain two pounds one week and gain another pound the next.  It’s so aggravating to work so hard at losing weight only to find that you gain.  But, I read this just a short time ago, “It’s not the weight loss, it’s the health that the most important”.  As long as I’m doing the treadmill or my bicycle every day or even a few days a week it can only help.  I am partial to the weight loss side though.  It’s more gratifying.

With the threat of rain I chose not to ride this evening.  It’s supposed to rain all week here in the deep south.  I’m trying to do some sort of exercise six days a week with one rest day.  So far it seems to be working out for me.  With the weather like it is I’m spending a lot of time on the treadmill.  If it’s pretty out I’ll hop on my bicycle and ride for a couple of hours.

This Saturday is the Old Howard, (http://howard.samford.edu/oldhoward/),  When I first started checking the weather a few weeks ago it show thunderstorms.  Then a few days ago it started showing up as partly cloudy.  Today when I checked it was 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms.  If the forecast still shows rain on Friday I will not be going.  I’ve ridden in the rain two times and both times I ended up in a ditch with a busted rim and bruised bones. Simply not taking the risk.

I’m really excited to report that I’ve lost 15 pounds as of this morning. I’ve been losing inches but not weight.  I guess it’s all the exercising that causing muscle weight.  Since March 1st I’ve either been on the treadmill or my road bike.  I can tell that I’ve lost inches because I’ve had to put two new holes in my belt.  I went from a size 48 pants down to a size 40 in a little over a month.

I’ve got a 46 mile bike ride down in Marion, Alabama this Saturday.  This will be my first charitable bike ride of the year.  I usually do about four a year.  Last year I was not prepared for the first ride.  I had only ridden about 50 or so miles before the event.  This year I’ve ridden close to 200 miles so maybe I’m better prepared than last year.  We shall see.

She built her nest on a island in our parking lot.  How crazy can that be.  Her partner was hanging around helping to guard the nest while she stat there.  I think he was more concerned about what I was doing that guarding the nest.  This was taken in the morning and by that afternoon when the sun was out  in it’s fullest I went back by there and she was panting she was so hot.  This is also right out in the open.  No shade tree in sight.

I got 23 miles in this morning.  I was going to get at least two more in before heading home but there was a funeral at the church where I cross over and I didn’t want to be disrespectful so I settled on 23 miles instead of 24 miles.

I got really pissed this evening while on my bike ride and I really wished more people would be more aware of the rules of the road.  I can’t believe people pass me on a hill or in a curve.  I know for a fact that these people wouldn’t pass another vehicle on a hill or in a curve.  I don’t really think they realize what danger they are putting me and or themselves in by doing so.  I really need to have my GoPro charged and ready to go so I can capture these idiots driving so dangerously.

I was thinking as I’m riding that maybe something  can be done to make people more aware of the state and local laws regarding cyclists.  I know that there are more cyclists in my community than just me.   I think I’ll call city hall tomorrow and talk to the mayor’s secretary. I know both the mayor and his secretary very well and it won’t be hard to get an audience.

I’ts rained just about all day today.  In fact, there’s a chance of rain all week this week with storms moving in on Friday.  Because of the rain, I got on the treadmill and did 2 miles this evening.  I’d rather have been on my bike.  In less than 2 weeks I have a 46 mile ride down in Marion Alabama and I’m not ready.  I believe that if the ride was today I could do it, it would be rough but I could do it.

Woke up sore this morning from hiking in the woods all day yesterday taking pictures.  It was worth every ache and pain.  I’ve been editing for most of the day and I’m not even half way through all the images.  Some time during the shoot my camera decided to start shooting in Aperture priority mode.  When I shoot in this mode I’m usually using the bracket mode so that meant that every picture was either 2 steps under exposed and 2 steps over exposed.  So every picture has to be edited.

The picture above is part of the creek that I followed for over a mile.  As you can tell it’s really nice out there.  If you are ever in the Atlanta Georgia area it would be worth a couple of hours of your time to at least hike down to the old textile mill.  Sweetwater Creek State Park, remember the name.

Meet Codie Bell from Atlanta Ga.  I spent several hours with her and her husband today at Sweetwater Creek State Park.  It was a great shoot with a beautiful young lady.  The park was packed today with families with kids and dogs.  We had to walk quite a while through the woods to find a place to have a little bit of privacy.  We still had several hikers come by while we were shooting and even then they were few and far between.

This lady has had three kids and I was shocked when she told me.  She had the body of a 20 year old with no stretch marks what so ever.  She works out every day and you could tell it.  We walked about 5 miles up and down hills that made me gasp for breath and it didn’t even phase her.

It amazed me how we would be somewhere shooting and other photographers would set up right behind her while I was shooting.  I’ve got several pictures with another tripod in in focus.  All they cared is for them to get their shot.

I’ve got a lot of editing to do.  Twice my camera somehow managed to either get in the Aperture Priority Mode or the Shutter Priority Mode.  With me doing bracketing shots one photo is 2 steps under and one picture is 2 steps over exposed.  So I’ve got to spend some time trying to see if I can salvage some of these pictures.  It’s going to be time consuming to do over 100 pictures.  1500 total pictures in all.  Maybe she can uses some of the pictures.
