365 Day Photo Challenge, 50 miler, Alabama, Bike, Bike Riding, Cycling, treadmill, Weightloss, workout

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is me about two years ago.  I’ve since gained some of my weight back being that my boss didn’t think I could make in to work in time if I got called in while on a bike ride.  Now that I’m no longer on call I don’t have to worry about it. I can’t put all the blame on my boss being that I could have done a lot of other things to keep my weight off.  Anyway, tonight I started what I hope is a long term workout program.  I started slow, only thirty minutes on my treadmill at a slow 2.9 mph and then I got on my bike trainer for 15 minutes doing about 20 mph.  I may not have done much but at least it feels like I worked out.  I’m looking forward to warmer weather so I can get out and hopefully get back to riding my 20 miles a day.

The photo above was taken after my first 50 miler.  I know for a fact that I wouldn’t look that excited if I had to ride that ride today.  I’m so out of shape.

More icy weather on the way.  But first, a round of warm weather and severe thunderstorms preceding the cold front.  Curious to see what transpires and how the city will react after the no show of our last system.  They are expecting a “wintery mix”, what ever that supposed to mean. More ice, snow or sleet?

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Blazer, Campus Life, College, daughters, Photo, Photography, Twins, UAB

This morning I was honored to take my twin daughters to college day at UAB, University of Alabama Birmingham. We toured the campus, on foot, and went into places I’ve never been before.  I’ve lived here all my my life and I thought I knew the place.  I guess I was wrong.  It’s real nice and I learned a lot.  This also gave my daughters a chance to check out the campus, the dining area as well as some of the dorms.  I’m not sure what my daughters really thought of the place.  I think they have their thoughts of going someplace where they can experience their freedom and not have to commute from home on a daily bases.  Overall, it’s a nice campus with plenty of activities for the kids to do to unwind after a hard day of studying.

After we all got home we all crashed.  After a late night last night we all deserved a nap.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Gymnastic, LSU, Million Dollar Band, Photo, Photography, Tuscaloosa

_1TH1396

A little late tonight.  Took a trip to Tuscaloosa tonight and watched the Alabama vs LSU gymnastic’s meet.  Alabama lost but not by much.  These girls really know their stuff.  I’ve never really been interested in gymnastics until my son started college and played int the pep bands.  I enjoy the meet but I also enjoy seeing my son play and getting to spend just a few minutes with him.  He’s coming home in two weeks and I can’t wait.

I will be posting some video’s of the meet on my TCHPhotography.smugmug.com site.

Enjoy your Saturday!!

The snow is all but gone in our area.  Some areas up north got over a foot of snow and needless to say it will be a few days before they will be able to get around.  It’s funny how the weather works around here.  Next Tuesday it will be around 70 degrees with a chance of tornadic activities.  I’m curious as to see what will happen next week.

Tomorrow evening I get to go see my son in college.  We’re going to see the gymnastics team compete and my son will be playing in the pep band.  I’m really excited to make this trip.  It’s going to be a late night but it will be worth it.

Alabama, snow, Snow event

The big snow event of 2015 was a big let down for many and a huge headache for others.  For me it meant a day off from work and got to spend some time with the family.  My daughters stayed by the window all day waiting on the snow. It started well after nightfall and only lasted about two hours.  Just enough to get the roads messy and freeze overnight and cause nightmares for in the morning.  Up north of us they’re expecting at least eight inches to a foot of snow.  I hate it for my kids but winter isn’t over with here and there’s still a good chance we’ll get more of the white stuff.

Everyone stay safe out there.

This has been my view all day because all we’re getting is rain. Not frozen rain, just cold rain.  I just heard on the news that 20 miles north of us someone built an 8 foot snowman.  I’m glad someone is getting snow because as of yet we’re not.  I’m sure our company lost a lot of money because of the decision not to open but I’ve enjoyed the day off especially since I’m not having to take time off to do it.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Beach, Feet, Global Warming, Photo, Photography, Summer

More bad news as far as the weather is concerned.  Icy roads in the morning and snow accumulation for Wednesday.  When I was a kid these would be the words I’d die to hear.  Anything to get be out of school but unfortunately I didn’t hear these words near enough.  It seems these days we’re experiencing more and more of winter activities.  Call it Global Warming, call it another Ice Age, whatever it is, I’m tired of it.

I spent the first full day back at work today and it was tough.  I made it but I kept thinking of getting home and getting in bed.  Funny, once I did make it home I haven’t made it to bed yet.  I will shortly though.

I’m longing for the warmth of Spring and Summer.

I’m really trying to be positive and think that spring is just around the corner.  It’s hard to do these days when everyday you turn on the news to find that there is another round of cold arctic air with more potential freezing rain and/or snow on the way.

I am looking forward to the day when I can get outside and do some hiking and maybe wet the line of a fishing pole.  I’m looking forward to the day of riding by bicycle and getting some much needed exercise.  I’m an outdoor person and having to stay inside these past few months has given me a bad case of cabin fever.  When spring time finally shows her head, you’ll be hard press to find me inside.  Look for me in the woods or on the roadway on my bicycle.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Cabin Fever, Deals Gap, Motorcycle, Photo, Photography, Rain, Weather

DSCN0227

Today I did absolutely nothing but sit in this recliner.  I did spend some time on the computer working on a powerpoint presentation that I have to have done in three weeks.  I think I have it about 95% done.

It’s raining here now and there is another possibility of some frozen stuff again early Monday morning.  I’ll have to go in to work regardless because I have no time left. Tomorrow I have a meeting in the afternoon so that at least will get me out of the house for an hour or so.

The above picture was taken while on a motorcycle trip to Deals Gap North Carolina.  I believe we were on our way back in this photo.  We left on a Wednesday and came back late the following Saturday night.  We had a wonderful time and I wish I could do this trip again.  I still have my motorcycle and I just may do the trip again in a year or so depending on my health.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  I’m hoping the weather makes up it’s mind to stay warm more than a day or two very soon.  I’m going nuts having to stay in the house.
