365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Botanical Gardens, Kidney Stones, Pain, Rose, Sleep

Before I went to bed last night at 10:30 pm along with my regular diabetic meds, I took my pain meds and two ibuprofen PM pills.  I woke up around 2 am hurting like I’ve not hurt before so I got up and took another pain pill and another ibuprofen PM.  At 6:30 my wife woke me up so that I could text my boss and let him know that I wasn’t coming in.  I also took another pain pill and yet another ibuprofen PM and went right back to bed. I didn’t wake up until nearly 2pm.  I don’t recall ever sleeping that late ever.  The best thing is that I’ve been somewhat pain free since I woke up.  I haven’t had to have a pain pill since I’ve been up.  I’ve been using the strainer that the doctor gave me but I haven’t seen anything in the cup so I’m not sure if I’ve passed anything or not.  Kidney stones are not something to laugh about.  They hurt.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Botanical Gardens, CT Scan, Kidney Stones, Morphine, Pain, Pills, Rose

https://tchphotography.smugmug.com/Botanical-Gardens/i-mNLXTDk/A

Kidney Stones are a pain in the a$$.  I had just left the house this morning when I started feeling the pain.  Within about thirty minutes I was hurting real bad.  I did my morning rounds and left for the doc in the box.  They ran some tests, hooked up an IV and gave me a shot of morphine.  They then sent me to the hospital for a CT scan where the found some kidney stones.  I made it fine with the morphine shot until about 5pm and then the pain hit again.  The doctor did give me a scrip for some pain pills but it’s nothing like the morphine.  I’m hoping to pass the stones soon so I can rest.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Blogging, Botanical Gardens, Flowers, Roses, Television, Weekend

https://tchphotography.smugmug.com/Botanical-Gardens/i-x8CcWK9/A

First of all as of today I’ve been “Blogging” for two years.  Never thought that would happen.  Secondly, I’ve been too negative lately in my posts and I apologise for that.  It’s for that reason I won’t be posting things about work for a while.  I will simply have to find another outlet for my frustrations.

This past weekend I had about two hours that I was able to spend with my wife.  Normally while at the house, she has her papers that she has to grade while I’m either on the computer doing emails or watching television.  Either way we’re not doing anything together.  I’ve found that we have nothing in common when it comes to watching television.  In order for us to spend any time together we’re simply going to have to get out of the house. That way it’s just her and I and we’re “forced” to spend time together.

This has got to be my all time favorite time of the year.  The weather has been simply gorgeous the last few days.  So much so that everyone is out enjoying the day.  While my kids were helping yesterday at the Botanical Gardens, my wife and I took the opportunity to take a walk and enjoy the park for ourselves.  There were so many people out with their kids having picnics, reading books and there were several out there with photographers getting their pictures taken.  My wife and I just sat there and took it all in and remembering the days when we used to do that with our kids.  I’m hoping that there will be many more days like this to come.

After yesterday’s long day cooking at the Founder’s Day Celebration, today was spent relaxing; well, for the most part.  My daughter’s had signed up to volunteer at the Botanical Gardens helping with their Fall plant sale and my wife and I decided to go along and take a walk among the flowers and plants.  It was such a gorgeous day, a little cool in the shade but beautiful nonetheless.

As you can see there wasn’t a cloud in the ski as we walked in the flower gardens.  I brought along my camera and took tons of pictures of all the roses that were blooming.  This was the first time in months that my wife and I has had an opportunity to take a walk anywhere without the kids tagging along.  Better get used to it I guess.  College days are just around the corner.

Today started off with me in the dumps.  Found out an acquaintance of mine who was diagnosed with CML during the same week I was, she found out that her CML has advanced and now is need of a bone marrow transplant.  I’m somewhat confused on how someone with the same cancer can be different.  I know we are not on the same meds and we have different doctors and I also know that she didn’t take her medication like she supposed to and that may have had a huge impact on the direction her cancer has taken.  When I read the news this morning it set me back a bit thinking that this could very well have been me.  It still can be me.  I go back to my oncologist in August and I’m hoping for continued good news.

I was also down because I knew I wouldn’t get to ride any this evening because I was supposed to meet up with a new girl who want to model for me. We’ve tried to meet on so many other occasions and it always fell through.  Why would tonight be any different. I would miss out on the meet up as well as miss out on the riding time.  But, she showed up and I was impressed.  She is everything I was hoping for.  She’s never modeled before but that’s ok.  She doesn’t seem to have any hangups, not on drugs, doesn’t have a jealous husband or boyfriend.  So far so good.  After seeing and talking with her it just made my day.  We’re meeting Tuesday evening to do a small shoot at the Botanical Gardens.  I am really looking forward to it.  Hope to share some pictures after the shoot.

I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re prepared with a headlight and a tail light, a reflector vest and a taste for bugs.  I got a late start tonight but I had to get my big loop in.  It was light when I started but before I got done I had to turn my headlight on.  It has four settings; low, medium, high and strobe.  It has 750 lumens when it’s on the highest setting.  When it starts getting dusk I turn the headlight on the strobe setting.  I can see fine but I want to make sure that others see me.  When I can see my shadow from the streetlights I turn the headlight on to high so that I can see everything else.

Most of the roads I travel have street lights but there are a few that it’s very dark even on the brightest moonlit night.  The tree cover is so thick that not even the moon beams can penetrate.  These roads I make sure I slow down and really pay attention. Rabbits and stray cats often jump out in front of me and threaten to cause an early dismount which I’m sure would not be a pretty site and may cause bodily damage.

There are some advantages to riding at night.  One is that there is hardly any traffic.  Most of the roads I travel are located in subdivisions.  Once I make these subdivisions I can probably count the amount on cars I see on the road on one hand.  Getting there is the problem. Later in the evening even the traffic on the busy roads are diminished.

Another advantage is it’s a lot cooler riding at night.  The sun has gone down and the temperature drops.  I’m not having to wipe the sweat away from my forehead near as often when I ride at night.  There is nothing I hate worse than sweat getting on my glasses.  I can’t stand that.

There are a couple more disadvantages but one that sticks out more is that it seems that the bugs come out at night.  I bet I spit out 15 bugs that managed to get inside my mouth.

Tonight was a good ride.  I got over 25 miles in.  The only thing that I didn’t like about tonight’s ride is the amount of dogs that were out unleashed.  On one road I counted six dogs that came out and chased me.  The bad part about this was that this was a dead end road and that meant that once I got to the end I had to turn around and go through them again.  I’m not sure who got more exercise, me trying to outrun the dogs or the dogs trying to catch me.

Today marks my 100 post during my 365 day photo challenge.  To be honest I wouldn’t have thought I would have made it this far.  I’d like to thank all the followers for their patience and understanding.  I know I”m not a writer but I do like to jot things down and I also know that most of the time it doesn’t make sense.  I had no idea that I would have gained 151 followers.  That just blows my mind.  I know I complain a lot and by now most of you that have followed me from the start should know I have a lot to complain about.

Thank you to all my followers for putting up with me and my complaints.  I’m not saying it’s going to get any better and it will probably be just as boring at times but I will try to keep it going for another 100 days.

This is the second time to post this.  The first time didn’t post for some reason.  Oh well.  Got a photo shoot tomorrow in Atlanta Ga at 1pm.  I’m planning on getting there at 9 am Georgia time to scope the place out and to take some pictures before it get’s too crowded.

My app screwed my mileage up today.  I biked over 21 miles today but my app messed up where I stopped and took a photo and it only logged a little over 17 miles.  I’ve logged over 2,000 miles with this app and this is the first time that this has done this.
