365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Blazer, Campus Life, College, daughters, Photo, Photography, Twins, UAB
This morning I was honored to take my twin daughters to college day at UAB, University of Alabama Birmingham. We toured the campus, on foot, and went into places I’ve never been before. I’ve lived here all my my life and I thought I knew the place. I guess I was wrong. It’s real nice and I learned a lot. This also gave my daughters a chance to check out the campus, the dining area as well as some of the dorms. I’m not sure what my daughters really thought of the place. I think they have their thoughts of going someplace where they can experience their freedom and not have to commute from home on a daily bases. Overall, it’s a nice campus with plenty of activities for the kids to do to unwind after a hard day of studying.
After we all got home we all crashed. After a late night last night we all deserved a nap.

365 Day Photo Challenge, Alabama, Gymnastic, LSU, Million Dollar Band, Photo, Photography, Tuscaloosa
A little late tonight. Took a trip to Tuscaloosa tonight and watched the Alabama vs LSU gymnastic’s meet. Alabama lost but not by much. These girls really know their stuff. I’ve never really been interested in gymnastics until my son started college and played int the pep bands. I enjoy the meet but I also enjoy seeing my son play and getting to spend just a few minutes with him. He’s coming home in two weeks and I can’t wait.
I will be posting some video’s of the meet on my TCHPhotography.smugmug.com site.
Enjoy your Saturday!!

inThe snow is all but gone in our area. Some areas up north got over a foot of snow and needless to say it will be a few days before they will be able to get around. It’s funny how the weather works around here. Next Tuesday it will be around 70 degrees with a chance of tornadic activities. I’m curious as to see what will happen next week.
Tomorrow evening I get to go see my son in college. We’re going to see the gymnastics team compete and my son will be playing in the pep band. I’m really excited to make this trip. It’s going to be a late night but it will be worth it.

The big snow event of 2015 was a big let down for many and a huge headache for others. For me it meant a day off from work and got to spend some time with the family. My daughters stayed by the window all day waiting on the snow. It started well after nightfall and only lasted about two hours. Just enough to get the roads messy and freeze overnight and cause nightmares for in the morning. Up north of us they’re expecting at least eight inches to a foot of snow. I hate it for my kids but winter isn’t over with here and there’s still a good chance we’ll get more of the white stuff.
Everyone stay safe out there.

This has been my view all day because all we’re getting is rain. Not frozen rain, just cold rain. I just heard on the news that 20 miles north of us someone built an 8 foot snowman. I’m glad someone is getting snow because as of yet we’re not. I’m sure our company lost a lot of money because of the decision not to open but I’ve enjoyed the day off especially since I’m not having to take time off to do it.

I find it funny that we have four local television networks in my viewing area. All four have different points of view on the upcoming snow event. The NWS sets the standard forecast and our local weather personnel puts his or her own spin on things. I imagine just for ratings.

We’re supposed to get up to six inches of snow tomorrow between 6 am and noon. My employer refuses to acknowledge the fact and is not closing. Even though all schools, county and city, within a hundred mile radius has closed. Last year we had a system come through so quick that 1700 people got trapped at work because they couldn’t get home. You would think that our company wouldn’t just go ahead and close to keep that from happening again but I guess the all mighty dollar is more important.
I’ve got several bike rides that I’ve signed up for this year. None of which are century rides. Right now I don’t think I could do a half century because I’m so out of shape. The weather here has been so crazy that I haven’t had a good weekend to get out and ride. This weekend doesn’t look good either.

inMore bad news as far as the weather is concerned. Icy roads in the morning and snow accumulation for Wednesday. When I was a kid these would be the words I’d die to hear. Anything to get be out of school but unfortunately I didn’t hear these words near enough. It seems these days we’re experiencing more and more of winter activities. Call it Global Warming, call it another Ice Age, whatever it is, I’m tired of it.
I spent the first full day back at work today and it was tough. I made it but I kept thinking of getting home and getting in bed. Funny, once I did make it home I haven’t made it to bed yet. I will shortly though.
I’m longing for the warmth of Spring and Summer.
